Stirrings on the Periphery

 Hi!

After over a year of silence, the HPG station is back online thanks to Comstar and things will be happening once again out on the Periphery as Wilson's Hussars attempt to improve their tenuous employment in the Magistracy of Canopus in 3025.

Over the last twelve months I've been working away on other projects but the lure of giant stompy robots has been too strong to resist and I plan on expanding the scope of my Papertech Mechs so I can include vehicles, aircraft and eventually newer mech models too!

While my other projects will be miniature based, Battletech will for the time being at least be paper as I can produce units quickly and easily and spend more time gaming.

In the spirit of retro charm, I'll be using the 3rd edition core rulebook initially but plan on picking up some more comprehensive rules and playing more Alpha Strike too as I love the simplicity of the system which will allow for larger, combined arms types of games.

I'm planning on introducing some new lances in the coming week or so featuring some generic forces from the Great Houses as well as some more Periphery powers. The best thing about papertech is that I can produce forces really quickly and easily and having read a lot of the background from the Periphery sourcebook I am also contemplating looking at the Reunification War.

I must admit that the more I read for Battletech, the more fascinating the setting becomes as it is relatively hard sci-fi without the usual aliens and craziness, instead its all humanity in all its bloody, disharmonious glory and its really great fun to delve further into.

Sadly I'm also really busy at work at present as we approach the run up to the festive period so updates on the blog will probably be a bit patchy but watch this space!
